Relocating the AMP Datastore on Windows

If you have a new AMP installation and have not yet created any instances (or do not care if they are erased) - it is easier to re-run the AMP installer and pick a new datastore location. If you need to relocate existing instances then the following applies.

It may be necessary sometimes to relocate the AMP instance datastore. On Windows systems there's a few steps that are required to do this in order to keep all of the instances running.

  1. Make sure that all AMP instances are stopped, and that the instance manager is not running.
  2. Move the datastore directory to its desired location.
  3. Change the ownership if applicable. AMP instances may not function correctly if the directory structure is owned by Administrator - If you're running AMP instances as services it should be owned by NETWORK SERVICE
  4. Edit Instances.json with a text editor (such as Notepad++) and change the paths for the instances to reflect the new directories. Note that the use of double-slashes for paths is required as it is a JSON document.
  5. Using Regedit, navigate to the following registry key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SOFTWARE/CubeCoders/AMP/InstanceManager and find the InstanceStore value - and update it to reflect the new datastore location.
