Howto: Make McMyAdmin update itself on first start

If you're preparing a VPS template, you may wish to make sure that McMyAdmin updates itself when the VPS is first spun up to ensure the user is on the latest version.

You can do this by either:

  • Omitting all files from the installation except MCMA2Linuxx86_64 and adding the -nonotice argument (which suppresses confirmation messages)
  • Omitting just the McMyAdmin.ebi file, and again adding the -nonotice argument. This is useful if you wish to keep customized configuration files.

The -nonotice argument is safe to use for 'normal' starts, so you can leave it there permanently. You could also delete the McMyAdmin.ebi file on boot so that a VPS reboot causes McMyAdmin to update.
